truly-madly-guilty  I was so excited when the opportunity arose to review this title by Liane Moriarty.  Truly Madly Guilty is a wonderful novel with intriguing characters that draw you in from the start. I found this book to be a real page turner and I loved the short, engaging chapters.

Moriarty has a talent for writing novels that contain suspense in bucket loads. While I really did enjoy the book, I feel there may have been slightly too much emphasis on the suspense.  We know from the beginning that there is a BBQ.  The story centres around this day and each chapter alternates back and forth between the events  on this fateful day and the aftermath and how it affected everyone who attended this social gathering.

There are so many references to the BBQ without telling us what happened that it is constantly on your mind and for me it was built up so much that it took away from other aspects of the reading experience. However, don’t let this put you off.

There are a couple of great twists thrown into this book, one in particular that really threw me and evoked a lot of emotion . Overall, it was a lovely read. The author held my attention throughout and as with all of Moriarty’s books, I found her writing style to be very therapeutic and her characters to be wonderfully flawed and real. If you like dark humour, great characterization and a good mystery, this is the book for you.

Thank you to for the opportunity to read and review this book.
